Pray for Egypt

We have all been shocked to hear of the violence in Egypt over this past week in particular, and we should continue to pray for peace in this troubled land.

Christians have been affected greatly by this violence. The Bible Society of Egypt reports that Muslim Fundamentalists have completely burned and destroyed two of their bookshops. They also say that similar incidents are taking place across their nation, including the attacking of 15 churches and three Christian schools.

They report that in retaliation for the government dispersing the sit-ins, the Muslim Brotherhood leaders called for nation-wide protests. In response to these calls, Muslim fundamentalists all over Egypt have gone on a rampage of violence.

Bishop Mouneer from the Anglican Diocese of Egypt reports of further destruction and violence, and asks us to pray that the situation will calm down, for wisdom and tact for the police and the army, for the safety of all churches and congregations, and that all in Egypt would be safe.
