A few weeks ago I read a ‘tweet’ from a ministry friend in which he described his church weekendaway as their ‘annual holiday.’
It’s funny, but even after a lifetime of going on camps, houseparties and church retreats, I can’t ever remember hearing this title used for these residential events.
But I love the name, because it brings all of the warmth and positive feelings of a holiday to the experience of spending a weekend away together with our brothers and sisters from church.
Our weekendaway is a time when we pray that God will grow us in our love for each other and for him as we gather around Christ, present among us by his Spirit as he is clothed in the promises of his Word.
Whatever you do, don’t miss our annual church holiday… and remember, if money is a problem, we’ll have you covered!
