Real Kids Day

On Monday an enthusiastic team from our church ran our Real Kids day – “Lost and Found” – a holiday program filled with activities for the children of our community.

The day centred around the great news that “the Son of Man came to look for and to save people who are lost.” Luke 19:10. And we had a whole lot of fun exploring this. We looked at the Bible stories of Zacchaeus (Luke 19), and the parable of the lost sheep (Matthew 18) – where a Puppet named Woolly came along to help.

We sang a lot of kids songs together which had everyone up and doing actions and singing loudly. But we also sang a few verses of Amazing Grace. While not known as a kids song it worked beautifully, especially as we sang “I once was lost but now I’m found”.

Afternoon activities also focused on the theme of lost and found with a scavenger hunt for some missing sheep that were so well hidden they may still be there! There was a multimedia game, a treasure chest craft and a memory verse challenge.

The leaders did a great job of showing love and care for all who came. The day strengthened connections we have with the community with lots of kids coming from our SRE classes and also from families who attend the Mobile Community Pantry.

The leaders also did a great job adjusting plans to handle our biggest Real Kids yet – especially those in the kitchen who were running out to the shops to cater for all the kids – only to find upon returning even more had arrived while they were gone!
We were all so pleased that so many had joined us on the day and we had opportunities to share the great news of Jesus with them all.
