Searching for King Jesus

It was a privilege to be part of a greying set of “boomers” who combined forces with our highly efficient Church Administrator, Scripture teacher, Youth group “Refuge” leader Val [Squire] O’Regan and our other Youth group leader “Sir” Daniel Rainey [Knight], as they went in search of King Jesus at our “Real Kids” day held last Monday for Preschool to Year 6 children.

The stage antics of Squire Val and Sir Rainey were supported by others including  Phil as a healed blind man, fisherman, now fisher of men Andy and Glenda [Mary Magdalene]. Sir Rainey came to see that Jesus was indeed the one true King. Through miracles, his death on the cross to save us from the punishment we deserve for our sins and his resurrection, Jesus proved that he is God and is worthy of being followed.

Magda, Jenny and Rhonda taught, John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life,” using different methods to help this wonderful promise be remembered by even the youngest of 26 children who attended.

The children also sang songs to music played by Coralie, enjoyed games, craft and of course the food prepared by Barbara, Belinda, Ruth, Debbie P and Debbie S.

It was great to see these talented workers perform on your behalf, many of whom will back up at TOTS each Tuesday, SRE at Oak Flats, Balarang, Mt Warrigal, Flinders Public School and Oak Flats High, Kids’ and Andy’s Club and Refuge.

Why not join the team next time? Just be sure to do the,” Working with Children” course first.

Matthew 19:14…… Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
