- Who we are
- What we do
Well, we’ve been praying for months and months, and in response to our prayers, God has given us Glenn Davies as our new Archbishop of Sydney.
In Glenn we get the first ever ‘hat trick’… a man who has been a bishop, a rector and a theological lecturer.
Glenn is married to Di, and will be officially inaugurated on 23rd August in St Andrew’s Cathedral, Sydney.
For more details visit the official page on sydneyanglicans.net.
We give thanks to God for giving us Glenn as the new leader of our diocese, and we pray that through him, we will see a model of a man who is devoted to prayer, preaching, and pastoral care of our ministers.
We also pray that Glenn will be a great inspiration to all the churches in our diocese as we seek to reach the people of our city and beyond who do not yet know the love and forgiveness of Jesus and the confidence of eternal life.
We are absolutely delighted to announce that Adam Hotson will be joining our ministry staff next year as our assistant minister.
Adam is married to Anita, and they have three children Nicholas (7), Noah (3) and Chloe (1).
Adam is in his fourth year at Moore Theological College, and has also previously trained at Youthworks College. He will be ordained as a Deacon early next year.
He has a passion for ministry to young people, and will focus on both youth ministry and evangelism in this new role, as together we seek to reach more and more people in our community with the great news of Jesus.
We are deeply thankful to God for the way he has stirred up in our church community a generosity that has led to us having the financial resources to meet the cost of this all-new appointment.
Please pray for Adam and Anita and their lovely kids as they prepare to join us at the start of January next year.
God is great! Praise Jesus!
After much anticipation, today is the day we start the new lunchtime group at Oak Flats High School.
The group is called ‘JOLT’, which stands for ‘Jesus Over Lunch Time’.
It meets in room A1 during second lunch, and is for anyone who wants to know more about Jesus, whether they already follow him or are just checking things out.
Please pray that it will be a great hub of Christian fellowship within our local high school, and that through this, Jesus’ name will be ringing out amongst the youth of Oak Flats and beyond.
On Friday of this week our church finally returned to Oak Flats High School with the official kick-off of our SRE (Special Religious Education) program.
I’m teaching all six Year Seven classes for a full, one-hour lesson each fortnight, with the exception of the students whose parents have chosen for them to opt out.
I will also begin a weekly lunchtime group starting next Friday.
The cooperation from the school has been outstanding, and the opportunities to serve in the school are great.
Our dream is to now teach even more classes from 2014, which is where an assistant minister would make such a difference to our ministry potential in the school.
Pray that the Lord of the harvest would send out workers into his harvest field!
Our youth and kids’ programs are underway for Term Three and it looks like a great few months of Bible-based, Jesus-honouring programs and activities.
Don’t miss out!
We’ve got some great things planned for this term
