- Who we are
- What we do
This Sunday we kick off our brand-new series titled ‘Remember These Things!’. In the first talk, Stephen Fifer will be speaking on the topic, “The God who Speaks”, from 2 Timothy chapter 3 verses 10 to 17.
We will be sharing in the Lord’s Supper this Sunday, so be sure to join us for this important reminder of the death of Jesus.
If you’re considering popping in and checking out our church, then this is an ideal Sunday to join us at either 10am or 5pm. And if you can’t make it in person, join us at www.oakflats.tv for a live stream of our services.
When it comes to thinking about world mission, the go-to bible passage is typically Matthew 28:19 where Jesus says:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”.
However, the idea of mission permeates the whole Bible.
God is the creator of the world who graciously acted in history to restore us to himself, following our rejection of him. This reconciliation happens in Jesus – God become man, entered into the world, and died in our place.
Clearly then, God has always operated with a global scope, or even more accurately, a universal scope.
If we are to align ourselves with God’s priorities and concerns, then we’ll be thinking global too. We miss so much when we only consider what is happening in our little corner of the world.
In the end, the only appropriate response to God’s outrageous, undeserved love is to confess our sin and live for Jesus.
As 2 Corinthians 5 puts it, we no longer live for ourselves but for him who died for us and was raised again.
As we live for Jesus, God remarkably gives us a part to play in his “world-saving” activities, by entrusting to us this good news about Jesus.
What a responsibility! What a privilege! Be one in Christ, bought with his precious blood to make us brothers and sisters in Him.
