Announcing our new Senior Minister – Sam Pursell

Susan (holding Angela), Sam, Ed and Mary Pursell

We are delighted to announce that Sam Pursell has accepted the invitation from Archbishop Glenn Davies to be our new Senior Minister.

Sam is married to Susan, and they have three children: Edward (aged 3), Mary (aged 2), and Angela (6 months). Hobbies include cycling, sewing and waking up during the night. Sam is from Sydney and Susan from Wollongong, but all the children are proudly Tasmanian.

The Pursells have been in Hobart for the past 6 years, with Sam being the Assistant Minister at St Mark’s Bellerive. He has been focused on youth and children’s ministry, but has had a hand in everything going on in the parish.

After studying business at UTS, Sam worked at SC Johnson and Yahoo! Search Marketing before a year of MTS and then Moore College. He has enjoyed seeing the Anglican Church in Tasmania grow in its love and knowledge of God through the Word during this time, and many ministries started and revitalised.

Susan is a teacher by trade and once upon a time taught over the hill from Oak Flats at Shellharbour Anglican College. These days she is a full-time mum and construction vehicle enthusiast.

The Pursells are looking forward to serving at Oak Flats and getting to know the new church family. They expect to be settling into the Fisher Street home at some point in November.

Please pray for Sam, Susan, Ed, Mary and Angela as they prepare for many farewells and changes in the coming months.

Particularly pray that as they move to our neighbourhood that they will have many opportunities to help us grow in our knowledge and love of God, and that Sam will help equip us for ministry with each other in our church and in our region.

God is great! Praise Jesus!
