God leads us in our insecurity
Bible Text: 1 Samuel 8-9 | Preacher: Jodie McNeill | Series: God’s leading
We Aussies are living in the lucky country, but we often feel deeply insecure.
But insecurity doesn’t just affect individuals.
Entire nations can feel insecure, especially at times of war and terrorism.
When we feel insecure it can lead us to make rash and unwise decisions.
And sometimes we might even make choices that make us less secure than before!
This is the situation that God’s people in the Bible were going through as we read first Samuel chapters 8 and 9.
They were feeling insecure, and it led them to make a really unwise decision.
They were devoted to God.
They had been miraculously saved by God.
They were enjoying long-lasting peace in the land.
Yet, strangely enough, they were still insecure.
They had peace but they were insecure. And because they were insecure, they acted in an irrational way.
Today we’ll see just how they act badly because of their insecurities.
But we’ll also see that God didn’t give up on them, even though they gave up on him.
