Lost and Found

Missing

Last Tuesday, just before noon, Luke Shambrook was spotted by a police helicopter. He had wandered from his campsite on Good Friday and had spend four nights in the bush. While as a parent you would never want to give up hope, with each night passing hope might have dwindled. The relief that Luke’s parents would have felt when they got the news that he was alive and well would have been huge it would have felt like receiving him back from the dead.

The Bible says that we are like lost children, but unlike Luke we haven’t just wandered off and been disorientated. We have wilfully wandered and turned our backs on our heavenly Father. In one of his most famous stories Jesus tells us that when we come back to God he lovingly embraces us in his arms, throws a huge party and proclaims: this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’

Our Father has sent out a rescue party for us in his own Son Jesus. Jesus is calling out for you to come to him. Will you listen to his voice?
