We have all heard these words!
After the barbecue topic has been fully discussed, someone will conclude with “At the end of the day…..”.
In the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30), Jesus speaks of a master who went on a journey and handed his possessions into the stewardship of his three servants. Each received different amounts of money. Two immediately got to work, trading and investing the money to increase the master’s profit, for that is what they knew he wanted. The third buried his money and did nothing.
When the master returned, he commended the faithfulness of the first two with the words “Well done, good and faithful servant……enter into the joy of your master”(v21,23). The third servant was rebuked as “wicked and lazy” (v28).
Just this week, our dear brother, John Thompson went to be with his Lord. Amongst other things, John followed the country show circuit for a number of years, setting up a stall to reach country and show folk with the gospel. John made a significant spiritual investment in his Saviour’s gospel business with the earthly resources of time, money and energy his Lord had entrusted to him. He wanted to make a spiritual profit for his Master!
At the end of his day, John heard those words of commendation from the Lord and has entered into the joy of his Master.
What will you hear from the Lord at the end of your day? How heavily invested are you in your Master’s business? (Matthew 28:18-20).
