The cliches keep flowing as we try and capture the essence 2020; a “Year To Remember” or “Forget”. Harassment is a “popular” theme often applied to situations when people struggle to handle the pressures of life. It can be a serious issue not to be taken lightly.
To harass means to “trouble and annoy continually… repeated attacks…” (Pocket Oxford) against individuals or groups. It is difficult to view the restrictions on Christian Churches by the NSW Government as not ending up being a form of harassment clearly not applied to the likes of sporting codes.
Crowds at sporting events have been able to sing to their hearts content mask less, while in Church we still cannot sing and worse, for outdoor Carol Services we can sing but only behind masks. Thousands at a sporting final a few at Carol Services in the open, where is the logic?
Is this harassment and should we be surprised? The world is opposed to the Gospel and yet we have the Good News that beats any virus or vaccine and can last into Eternity.
Our Carol Service will go ahead we pray with strong Community involvement. The Gospel will be spoken and shared; the rest we leave in God’s hands and apply the Isaiah 55:11 Principle with absolute confidence.
Do not feel harassed. We have God on our side and the victory has already been won. Pray for all who will join us at the Carol Service; they may come for varied reasons but leave knowing the Lord.
Isaiah 55:11 “So will my Word which goes forth from MY mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire…” NASB Also Luke 2:11
